HI there
Just received a very helpful e-mail regard licencing.
However its d0esnt answer one question I have
The system does keep a track of installs but it doesn't as far as I can see keep a track of uninstalls. Or more specifically in my case when a PC suffers a catastrophic failure as mine did. MS did an update of Windows on that desktop and the result was that Windows became totally utterly unusable. Even following their suggested methods failed to get Windows working again Even safe mode refused to work.
AS Windows had been getting slower anyway over several months I decided to call it a day on it and do a completely fresh install from new. Fortunately this did work and for a change Windows managed to install recognising the hardware.
The question now is what happens to the original install of dBase? IS it still trapped in that failed windows? When I re-install dBase on the same hardware will it could as a new install or recognise the hardware and treat it as a re-install and count as one activation
A related question is, if I Uninstall dBase does that deactivate the activation record.
If this is the case one solution OI could resort to is to go back to a drive image backup from a while ago. Get that Windows with all its installed programs including dBase up and running then just go through and uninstall dBase plus some other program.
Anyway any advice would be very appreciated before I di anything next.
