Good Evening Sean,

> The family business has required me to pickup dBase. Excuse the entry level questioning.

Would suggest you to go through Ken's books & Ken's Tutorials.
You need not go through all the tutorials. Pasting all as I do not know
what version you are using. And are you developing for web or
standalone. Hence pasting all

Ken's dBASE Page: http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase
The dUFLP: http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase/index.htm#duflp
dBASE Books: http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase/Books/dBASEBooks.htm
dBASE Tutorial: http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase/Tutorial/00_Preface.htm
dBASE Web Tutorial: http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase/WebTutorial/00_Menu.htm
dBASE DOS to Windows Tutorial:
http://www.goldenstag.net/dbase/DtoWTutorial/00_Menu.htm

A small question : You are starting a fresh application or in
maintaining a legacy software.

It would help us if you show the line which is giving error. Will
suggest remedy accordingly. End of table simply states that either the
table is empty or you have crossed the last row.

A guess is that one or more of the fieldname you are using is a reserved
word. Eg. you cannot use date as a field name
