They should be backup and the working files on your computer with the new install. Keep in mind that since Visual dBase to dBase2019 there have been a lot of improvement but the tables need to be stabilized in the new install first. Are they level 7? The table designer in dBase2019 is very good.  If it can open the table without the index you are at the beginning of rebuilding the index. Take it a step at a time.  It gets better as you move along with the table to getting it to accept the rebuilt index. ed
