This sounds as if dBASE is trying to create a Paradox table in a .db
file which uses ALPHA and NUMBER as field types instead of CHARACTER and
NUMERIC as used in dBASE (.dbf) tables.
If you double-click on the "New Table" icon in the Table tab of the
Navigator to create the new table I have no idea why the table designer
would behave differently in different folders.
