Very interesting solution. My idea was to promp the user with the
available date options via a combobox, from which he selects the desired
date input pattern (DD.MM.YYYY, DD.MM., MM.YYYY, YYYY) and then set the
picture for the entryfield accordly, to make it clear which pattern has
been chosen and force input to that pattern and length.
Here came the picture property quite handy, it's very comfortable typing
the digits, since the dot is already there and you just key in numbers,
jumping automatically from day to month or year.
Unfortunately it looks like this drawback in question can't be sorted
out the way I was hoping for.
So I have to decide, whether to live with that issue or opt in for your
solution.
