Doug,

The problem is, you've said you're broadening your versatility, but you
haven't said in which way you want to do that.  To suggest another
language for you, that "may" be dBASE like, one needs to know where you
want to go. Data, General Programming, compiled, web, what do you want
to do? To be honest, except for the OOP similarity of using dot.notation
and functions, there really isn't a similar language to dBASE, syntax wise.

That will the be challenge for you, learning the syntax. The programming
concepts of loops, decisions, etc, are the same, except for the language
syntax to accomplish it, which is why the syntax is what defines and
differentiates a language from another.

So if you want suggestions, it would help to know what you want to do,
other than dBASE.
