Greetings,

You ask:  What’s our direction into the future with no discussion as to
what is wrong with the current direction.

In 1999:
Some private investors got the capital together to purchase the source
code for Visual dBASE from Borland, along with the rights to use the
Borland Database Engine (BDE) but not to modify it.  Borland (or current
owners of Borland) hold on to the copyrights.

The BDE, is vital to dBASE.

None of us have the ability or resources to build a new BDE for dBASE.

There are limitations around the BDE - number of concurrent users - size
of data files - what can be handled in memory.

dBASE is therefore positioned for what it is:
An Application Development Environment that has a native database that
can connect to other databases using ADO and ODBC.

For your information this in - itself is a powerful niche.

I will say this - there is more going on in dBASE LLC than dBASE2019.

Take a look at the new dbDOSv™ 2.0 - the better way to run DOS Programs
on Windows® 64 bit Operating Systems.  Run dBASE™ III+, dBASE™ IV, dBASE
CLASSIC™ or any of your favorite DOS programs on your Windows® computer
without requiring special drivers or apps to print to your attached
Windows® printers!

To my surprise - noticing from the newsgroup threads - there is a large
global customer base for dBASE ‘dos’ era support.

I am impressed and this application was not developed overnight.

So - Based on cost-benefit analyses and dedicated staff to get the job
done - something positive will come for the dBASE LLC Application
Development Environment it supports globally.

My position for the future direction is - FULL STEAM AHEAD!!
