Ed,
After looking at the docx document you included, I see that this at
least a pre-db2K dBASE version, since you are using automem variables.
Someone with more in-depth XDML experience will have to try to answer
you. I never played with Crystal Reports either, even though I may have
had a version that included it in some distant past copy.
The exact information will still be needed for these folks to help you
narrow down the problem.
