Hi Mervin...  Thanks...  Your little program opens thumbs within windows now.  So I will study what you say below and go from there.  I really think this computer got confused when I was fooling around with perl and imagemagik sometime ago.  Since I don't have to open files like thumbs usually on this computer, I am just finding out about the problem.

I think it's about time to get a new computer anyway!!  :)
