You shouldn't ever need to poke around in there so it is probably not a bad idea to simply leave it hidden. On the other hand, if you can't resist poking around in it then open Windows Explorer and select the View tab to start with.  On my computer there's a tickbox (see attached screenshot) but you may need to search for it if yours is different.  It may be under Options or Advanced.
