If dBASE wrote to the folder during installation and dBASE now opens it
is a good indication that the folder actually exists. If you can't see
it it's because by default it has been hidden by Windows.
Robbie's suggestion will confirm if the folder exists or not. (It will
be there. :-) Virtually every program you install on your computer will
have a folder in C:\ProgramData. )
You should not be writing to C:\ProgramData or any of it's sub-folders
yourself. It is where programs keep data they need for themselves.
dBASE has, for example, already set up a BDE alias to simplify access
the DBASESAMPLES database in one of it's subfolders i.e
C:\ProgramData\dBASE\dBASE2019\Samples
You should create a separate folder for your own program code. Say,
dBASE_Progs, with perhaps sub-folders code and data for each project.
Or, alternatively, separate folders for each project.
If you want to "un-hide" the folder so as to be able to see what's in it
open Windows Explorer and look in the View tab. Depending on the
version of Windows you are using there may be a tickbox on the toolbar
or you may have to search among the available options until you find the
right place.
