Your answer about a wizard is interesting. I recall having the dBASE version that installed Apache. That version was on my XP. My XP hard drive failed before I could copy it. So, what about using an old runtime and writing applets with dBASE 11 or 19? Is that object code updated as to not be runable in a web page directory tree?

This old protect is Ancestry tree data with family photos. It's not interactive. My 71 year old mom has XP. She scans photos. I organize them for extended family. When I get a good dBASE design I will pawn it off to the relatives for their own continued support. I will sell it. My great aunt did family albums some grand parents backward and sold those at our family reunions. I inherited this project when my great uncle turned 90 over ten years ago.

I am tempted to purchase Classic dBASE with dbDOS as my mom will not give up XP. But my mother could try to figure out a problem, open the regedit and monkey around until she has to reinstall windows for the nth time. Meaning, I would have to do it. Although an aunt did all of her ancestry work on a an old database. It might be that there are old files that still need updating. She gave me scanned copies of birth, marriage, death records back to 400 years ago for our first generations of Pilgrim/Colonials. I want to organize that into timelines vs the heap of jppegs and boxes of papers  she gave me.

I have wanted to know if Classic dBASE can be used on a webserver? I switched my domain hosting from Linux to Windows years ago but never tried to ask GoDaddy if they will install BDE or dBASE runtime. I used to run a webserver at home when I had dsl. I have also for quite some time looked at who in dBASE community operates web server space. Last I checked it was $5.xx/month but several links do not work.

I am talking a very small audience. But it could grow. One core data tracking is for my extended Maylower Pilgrim family line. People upload their DNA at gedmatch.com and compare DNA to seek and find relatives. I can copy and paste that into an Excell spreadsheet, export to dbf. Ancestry groups have been growing over some years. There are rules about useage, no names unless expressed permission.

I know people might complain about issues but I am finding the dBASE 19 easier than ever. I worked in dBASE at Borland. I could never learn fast enough to make sense of Visual dBASE. The leaning curve was too steep. Anyway, I hope I can get this project done enough to get it out before I am 71. ;)

Thank you Ken
