I have a little .jpg named not_available.jpg that I use when I don't
have an actual photo to display for a given record.  Shows the words "No
photograph available".  It's not really suitable for display in this
case as it was created in Photoshop with a fairly low resolution.  It
will display but it would look terrible.

A better option would be to create a single page document with
appropriate wording and print it to a .pdf file.  Display this document
when the field is blank.
