Hi Hi Gaetano, Hi Akshat,
i should have been more verbose!
What i meant is, that POP3 works correctly, only if you use a single
mailclient on a single machine. With IMAP you can use different clients
on different machines ( due of course to Gaetanos explanation below)
Akshat (using POP3): you open Thunderbird at your home office and you
get all the mails, that have been send to you or by you since you last
opened Thunderbird
Gaetano ( using IMAP) : you will see the same as Akshat.
Now you both go to the office at work.
Akshat, if you open Tunderbird, you will see the new mails, that arrived
since you closed Thunderbird at your home office, but not those, that
have been sent to the thunderbird-client at your home office. With POP3
they are no longer on the server.
Gaetano: if you open thunderbird at your work office, it will show you
the ones that have been already sent to you and the new ones, because
with IMAP they stay on the server and thunderbird can sync with all
mails not yet read.
HTH,
Marc
