What is the language driver being used for your table(s)?
Check the BDE (see image attached). This is the language driver that I
typically use and have never had issues with odd characters in dBASE tables.
In the dUFLP are some routines that might be useful (the dUFLP, if
you're not familiar, is a freeware library of code available from my
website noted in my signature block below):
SetLDriverTable.prg
TableInfo_us.zip
These may be useful to find out what language driver a table was created
with, and possibly change it ... but no idea what that might do to some
of the data.
