Hi Gaetano,

To answer your points in reverse order:

1) "Form" & "Rowset"
While the form object can see the rowset with no problem; that is not true in reverse - the rowset object has no concept of what is meant by form (this is a by-product of the dBASE object structure).
That means that from the point of view of a rowset you have to use the clunky this.parent.parent (if using a query object) or this.parent.parent.parent (if using a dmd object) instead of just writing "form".

2) The "CanSave" method.
From point 1) I suspect you will see why the oForm reference that you set up within form.onOpen() fails. Because the canSave method is called from the rowset it panics when it sees "form" and bails out.
The rowset does, however, know what "this" is and you can work up the object tree that way.

so this.parent.parent.parent.mytoolbar1.resettoolbar() works.

You could shorten that for multiple use by:
// set up the shortform
local oRef; oRef = this.parent.parent.parent.mytoolbar1
// use it to save typing
oRef.resettoolbar()
oRef.blahblah
oRef.blehbleh
