Good Morning O.J.
I will start with your last question.
Wizards do help us in setting up a application but no wizard can
anticipate the validity checks required by real life applications. This
is where programmers come in.
All dBase applications have a dual option
1. You can opt in for .dbf tables for storing data
2. You can store data on backend databases like MySQL, MariaDB, Firebird
to name a few.
You can even opt for a combination (I use both) as per your requirement
(and if required both at the same time also).
Then we have form designers and report generators which do ease much of
our work.
All languages / IDE's have most features which are common, but they vary
on some features which make them suitable for specific applications.
If it is involvement of Graphics or very high precsision number
calculations I would not recommend dBase.
But if it is data crunching like Point of Sale applications or other
similar business applications then my choice would be dBase.
And now coming to the best part.
You have excellent support system. There are a lot of readers of these
newsgroups many unlike me who have been programming in dBase for more
than 20 years (for some it could be nearing 40). And all have experience
in wide variety of applications.
So together we should be able to solve most of the issues you may face.
Regards
Akshat
