Late to this particular party, but here we go . . . .
Thirty years or more ago, I had all sorts of complex indices, producing
all sorts of results, and no doubt thought it was all very clever.
However, every index is an overhead, and I have deduced over the years
that with the BDE, every additional index, and more so, every additional
complex index, increases the risk of error or corruption at some point,
especially in a multiuser networked environment.
I might have a vague recollection that Rich (Autotraker) had similar
experience ?? . . .
As opportunity has arisen, I have been eliminating complex indices, and
turning increasingly to SQL to produce what is required.
