If you already understand the concept of OOP and event driven
programming for Windows then half the battle has already been won.

Unless you are using Windows Mail which doesn't do NNTP you may even be
able to use your present email client.
Over the years I've tried Thunderbird, Opera, Gravity and Windows Live
Mail and each time I've come back to Thunderbird. I use it for both
normal email and the newsgroups.
The only "quirk" with the version I'm using is that one uses the
"Followup" button to reply to newsgroup messages rather than the "Reply"
button which is used for email. Apparently the latest version is
intelligent enough to only have one button for both types of message.
