How, when or where I have no clue.  I have no clue where the pattern in the shadow comes from. Have checked the OLH 'menuitem' discussions and 'windowmenuitem' discussion to no avail. My formcontrol.wfm has systemtheme = 0 for the controls. There are no individual choices in the menu designer. Is there a solution? befuddled, ed
