Now, I can't create a table because I always get the "Field name error" message no matter what field name I use. I also used an existing table in the dBase Samples directory, the table opens, but won't allow me to change or modify the field names. Does anyone know if this is a dBase vs Windows version issue?

This has come up before, I think it's a combination of older versions of
dBASE and Windows 10. I may be wrong, but ... have you tried using the
alter table command?
